It’s perfect for cosy stay-at-home days where you want a happy and heart-warming story. Overall, this is a lovely short and sweet novel. About the Book After a fight with her mom, Kimi Nakamura is invited by her estranged grandparents to Kyoto for spring break. Kimi however, is determined to prove them wrong, while she does feel lost, she ultimately knows what she wants and in the end, she’s happy with her decision. The more creative pathways are usually looked down upon. I’m sure we have (or know someone who has) strict parents who push their children to get into medicine, law or engineering. I gobbled it up. a tender love story wrapped up in food, fashion, and family. Beat the ingredients in as you add them or beat them all together at the end. Description 'As sweet and satisfying as actual mochi. I think the plot already can be relatable to A LOT of people. Beat in the eggs, and the rest of the wet ingredients: coconut milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla.

Kimi’s character is your average high school graduate trying to figure out what she wants to do with her future and her parents are your average Asian parents who want Kimi to be more serious about her future. The relationship between Kimi and Akira is sweet, soft and VERY CUTE!! It’s like all your favourite rom-com’s mushed together into a fun little book. It’s heart-warming and it gave me butterflies. So, what does she want her future to be like? The trip was supposed to give Kimi clarity about what her future should be but she also has to figure out what her heart wants with Akira. She spends her time exploring the city of Kyoto and eventually meets Akira, an aspiring med student who works as a costumed mochi mascot for their local mochi food cart. When Kimi arrives in Japan is reconnects with the heritage she’d grown disconnected from while living in the United States.
